My Bio

Getting back into the swing of things on DA, I've been MIA for the greater half of the decade..

Art wise, my goal is to master Digital Oil Painting. Background in animation, AS Degree in the subject. Not my job, nor am I sure if I even want to be involved in that industry these days. Art is mostly a hobby for me, but I wouldn't mind selling a few prints down the line.

I do photography for giggles, and I also like to edit video.

Nothing major, I got off my butt and tinkered with getting a newer avatar made. Guys, I have to say, I think my cell shading days are officially behind me. I tried to make this avatar as a throwback to my old style with hard brushes and opacity shading, but I just couldn't do it.. so I busted out the oil paints and spent well over a few hours working on something that's so minute that it's probably not worth the time spent lol. Hey, it looks nice though. ;) Anyway.. I got some ways to go before I hit my stride it seems.. with the oil paints anyway. Whenever I do it, I feel like I'm not putting enough contrast into my work. I really need to figure out how to do that and then refine things a bit more. Its the one thing about "Magic in Leaves" that I felt was lacking for sure. Everything is kind of samey. My next big project will probably be an attempt at not doing that. But we'll see how it goes. I make no promises. Dan OUT!

Kind of self explanatory. I've been tinkering with a new program to make the good stuff in, but I don't fully understand how all the doodads and dongles do the howzits and why. For the longest time I've primarily used Photoshop - since migrated a few years back to Clip Studio Paint. I've just haven't been in a position, until recently, to pick it up and really make an effort into understanding how it works. They are very similar, but starkly different all at once. A long term goal of mine was to learn how to do digital painting. I think I can pull it off much easier with Clip Studio, but.. at the same time I have no idea what brushes I should be using.. Anyway, tldr, got a new Avatar. I don't know know how I feel about it. The efforts of tinkering with a new program, and I have no idea what I'm doing lol Dan OUT!
